The Weekly Peep #7 — Curaçao and the UK write crypto rules for iGaming

Regulators are writing the rulebook for the crypto casino sector, and this week's reading is about Curaçao's phased crypto policy, a UK debate over licensed crypto payments, and what both mean for iGaming operators and for the on-chain data Peeped tracks.

Curaçao: crypto policy with a mid-2027 runway

The Curaçao Gaming Authority has issued crypto guidelines for its business-to-consumer licensees, with a phased rollout reported to run to mid-2027. As reported, the requirements include accepting crypto for gambling only (not acting as an exchange or custodian), blockchain analytics screening at deposit and withdrawal, and separating player, operational and treasury wallets. Separately, the CGA has set a December deadline for supplier licensing, with registration expected to open in October 2026.

UK: a tentative step toward licensed crypto payments

The UK Gambling Commission has said it will examine whether crypto assets could become a payment option for licensed gambling in Great Britain, with crypto assets falling under FCA authorisation under a regime due on 25 October 2027. Q3 roundups also note a UKGC affordability-threshold review concluded in August 2026, adding shared-account analysis as a trigger. Secondary roundups on the MGA's new tiered fee structure are unconfirmed against the regulator, so treat them with care.

What it means for the data

  • Wallet separation and deposit screening should make operator flows more legible on-chain, which helps analysis built on public data.
  • Licensing-first rules favour operators that can show compliance, continuing the pattern behind recent geo-blocks.
  • Third-party volume snapshots (for example a DappRadar USDC ranking putting Stake.com ahead of Roobet and Shuffle) are undated, so we do not treat them as current figures.

We found no confirmed major launch, shutdown or funding event this week. Peeped's own published aggregates remain the best guide to deposit and withdrawal trends; check the dashboard for the latest.
